Stone the Bleedin’ Crows!!! – Another State Department Stuff Up?

December 19, 2007 · 1 Comment

Yeap, it’s another state government department stuff up…….okay okay there is yet no proof that they stuffed up but you’ve got to question the use of poisoned seed in an area that has native birds that are know for being opportunistic feeders.

It’s like only poisoning the smoked salmon at a Labor Party Conference…….sure you’re only targeting one breed of Labor Party supporter but it doesn’t mean that the others won’t have a bite while the food is free.

It’s not like there are other ways to get rid of Indian Mynah and yes these ways take longer, take more man power and cost more. But live trapping (and I know for a fact they can do it fairly effectively) leave room for mistakes such as the wrong species getting in the trap – easy just let them out, and reset the trap.

Your target species can then be put to sleep with CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) very quick the birds pretty much just fall asleep.

I’m sure that must NSW tax payer wouldn’t mind paying a little more for pest species like the Indian Mynah to be put down in the most gentle way in comparison the poison that can harm other non-target species.

The Christmas Story of Santa and his “Ho Ho Ho”

December 13, 2007 · Leave a Comment

HO HO HO?

Though we now know that the banning of Westfield’s Santa saying “HO HO HO” was an exaggeration. And both Myers, David Jones and Westfields to their credit released statements assuring the public that the “HO HO HO” will not be “Going, Going, Gone” from their Santas, which then they proceeded to then poured a large amount of marketing dribble over the whole thing.

[dust off my hands, case closed]………[or is it?]

The fact is that so many believed it. At first like everyone else I reacted to the news with a mixture of horror, disgust and anger, but then my common sense kicked in. So a total (when I last looked) of 375 commented about the article after only being posted for a few hours on ninensm, nearly every paper in the country has had a go at the story and last nights news……anything sound wrong to you, you know something missing????

We have war in multiple places in the world, children suffering in some way shape or form, drug and alcohol abuse rampant, bad traffic, a state government that’s lost it’s marbles (if it ever had them) and we get all in a huff about what some guy in a red suit that was given to him by a large multi-national soft drink company because it fitted better with their marketing plans……..stuff Santa, who cares what he says, as long as somewhere along the line we all stop, think, reflect upon just how good we all have it and give a little something to the local charity (at least).

I would now like to take the opportunity to say Happy Birthday to Jesus Christ ninensm - Sydney Santas rebel against ho-ho no-no

Japanese Environment Minister Ichiro Kamoshita cuts the 10th anniversary cake.

Watching the news last night and there was a looked like a 6 foot plus cake being cut by the Japanese Environment Minister and instead of thinking “good on them” or “pat on the back for you mate” the first thing I thought was “wonder if that cake is carbon neutral?”.

NSW Labor Party + too long in government = costly mistakes!?!

December 7, 2007 · 2 Comments

Morris IemmaOkay…I don’t normally talk about politics but this is more than just the normal sh$# pushing, swinging seat pandering, oozing self centred-ness that all political parties stoup too. This is a government, that can no long see the forest through the trees, and it’s starting not just to cost money, but lives.

The NSW public voted the Labor Party in for another term against an opposition Liberal/National Party that was of questionable competence at the least but rumoured racist (of the white nation policy type) at the worst. Most who I’ve spoken to say “What other choice did we have weirdos or idiots!?!”, comments that doesn’t inspire confidence, which may account of the small swing against Labor (of course not enough to change the Government).*

Since the Idiots verses Weirdos election in March the Labor Party Government lead by Morris Iemma (I’ll swallow my pride and call him by his title “Premier”) has lead his government from one near miss to the next, trains, schools, department of children services (DOCS), hospitals and numerous other bungles.

One starts to wonder “what the hell are these people doing? Don’t they know how to run a government or worse don’t they care?”.

As much as it pains me to say it (I’m born and bred Labor) the fact of the matter is that the Labor Government has lost the plot, gone nuts, lost their marbles, a sandwich short of a pick-nick and another assorted sayings for mental instability. In fact I think it may be an insult to those with mental instabilities lets face they couldn’t do any worse and I’d personally have the feeling they could do better, after all at least they know their not stable.   Perhaps there is something to the GET RID OF STATE GOVERNMENT argumentAfter reading the latest headlines this morning (which I generally don’t take much notice of as journalist can be just as bad as the polys). I was that angry that my first thought was to pickup my NSW state flag and go protest in front of my MPs office. Complete waste of time of course, our own home girl Reba Maher wouldn’t be caught dead near our lower income earning homes and business.

Labor better put their heads down and bums up and actually do something useful or they are going to get wipe of the map come next State Government election.

Honestly, the whole things so depressing you could cry…..that’s if you don’t get fined for wasting water…..

* Yes, yes I know, I know in the state election their where some very big swings particularly in the by-election pior to the main do of up to 13%. But that’s beside the point.

International “I will not hold” Day

December 5, 2007 · Leave a Comment

A work mate whilst waiting on hold sent us this via email.

“How come in this modern world we live in where time is so valuable (in business) and precious ( in leisure )we have so much time to wait on hold while waiting to speak to Customer Service of most large companies we have to deal with”

Andy 5th December 2007 while on hold

After many jokes about waiting on hold until it’s time retire, cartoons showing a skeleton holding a phone and many Scott Adams’s Dilbert cartoons later. Our Andy sent one last email from “hold” that we hope will change the world.

Maybe someone should organise a National ” I will not hold “” day

We haven’t heard from Andy since we hope that he has plenty of water and biscuits to make it ’til the end of his shift.
